Royal Party
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Royal party is a magic effect using cards.
The magician takes the face cards (Ace, King, Queen, Jack) out of a deck and tells the story of Ace having a party and inviting King, Queen, and Jack while dealing them into four piles each with one of each. He then says they start dancing and collects the piles, and seemingly cuts the deck. He then says the lights go out and they all run into the corner and puts them into four piles. He then turns them over and shows that all the Jacks are in one pile, the Queens are in one pile, the Kings are in one pile, and the Aces are in one pile.
When the dealer deals the piles, he does so in a "Z" formation, starting on the top right and making a Z with each of the piles of face cards. He then collects the piles and moves them back and forth, making it look like he is cutting them, when he is actually just moving the pile in the same order it was in originally. He then proceeds to make the same Z pattern with the deck, and due to the fact that all the piles were constructed the same, all the Aces, Kings, Queens, and Jacks will be in one pile.
