The Royal Greenhouses of Laeken (Serres Royales de Laeken / Koninklijke Serres van Laken) are a vast complex of monumental heated conservatories in the park of the Royal Castle of Laeken. On the instruction of King Leopold II of Belgium construction began in 1874-1875 after the designs of Alphonse Balat. In 1895 the complex was finished with the completion of the so called 'Iron Church', a domed greenhouse that served as the royal chapel. The total floor surface of this immense complex measures 2,5 hectares. 800.000 liters of fuel oil are needed each year to heat the complex.

The complex can be visited each year in springtime.
