Royal Danish Orchestra

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Royal Danish Orchestra (Det Kongelige Kapel, literally "The Royal Band") is a Danish orchestra based in the Royal Danish Theatre, Copenhagen. It claims to be the oldest orchestra in the world, tracing its origins to a body of trumpeters at the court of Christian I. Composer Carl Nielsen played second violin in the orchestra for some time.
