Roy Galley
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Roy Galley (born 8 December 1947) is a British Conservative Party politician who was elected as Member of Parliament for Halifax in the 1983 general election, defeating the sitting Labour MP Dr Shirley Summerskill.
Roy was educated at King Edward VII School (Sheffield) (photo) followed by Worcester College, Oxford.
As in many of the constituencies in that election, Galley's victory in a previously Labour seat was due a swing from Labour to the SDP, and when the SDP vote fell in the 1987 general election, he was defeated by Labour's Alice Mahon.[1]
