Roy Carpenters Beach

Roy Carpenters Beach Community, often referred to as Roy Carpenters or Roys, is a Beach Community located in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. Roy Carpenters is primarily used during the Summer time. The beach officially opens on May 30th, Memorial Day Weekend, and closes on Labor Day Weekend for the start of school.

Roy Carpenters is known for being run by its community. While there is a primary family that owns the Beach, the community generally runs all of the events that take place in it.

Roy Carpenters Beach is loacted in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, in Matunuck. It's address is 240 Cards Pond road.

The community is made up of primarily Beach Houses, often called Cottages. Most of the houses form rows and face towards the beach. Most Cottages are built having similar features, which usually include a deck, 1 to 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a shower. Most cottages do not have toilets, but there are buildings that have bathrooms placed strategically throughout the area.

Roy Carpenters also has one store, which wasn't open in the 2006 season and is pending for reopening in the 2007 season. The store has food items commonly found in cottages, candy, and beach equitment. The store was previously located right on the beach, but was moved due to the waves wearing it down. It is now located in a parking lot very close to the beach.

There is also a house used for public recreation called The Fire Barn, the name coming from its previous usage as a building to hold firetrucks.

Roy Carpenters has many events throughout the primary time period. Most famous of these events is the Independance Day fireworks show, which takes place right on the beach.

Other events include the pots and pans parade, the Christmas in August celebration, the haunted house, and the weekly bingo games and tournaments.

Every labor day there is usually an unofficial shaving cream war held by the local teenagers and children.
