Roy Belton

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roy Belton was a Jewish youth accused of murdering a taxi driver in Tulsa, Oklahama in the summer of 1920. He was lynched while local police directed traffic around the White mob.

The inability of police to defend the accused against lynch mobs led to the black community attempting to defend a black prisoner in actions leading up to the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921.
