[edit] The Boro

I've lived in Roxborough for most of my life, and I've never ever heard anyone refer to it as "The Boro". Is there anywhere this is cited? --Ianrox 21:56, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

I and my wife have lived in Roxborough for 15 years and can't remember anyone referring to it as "The Boro", either. And I find it curious that the writer mentions Ridge Ave., and then refers to "the Ridge" without explanation. Ridge Ave. is known locally as "The Ridge", and locals say "up the Ridge" (out of town, toward the 'burbs) and "down the Ridge" (toward Center City Philadelphia). JHArnold 15:14, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I lived in Roxborough for 20+ years, and never heard it called the 'boro'. Anyway, the article also characterized "most" of Roxborough as 1950's suburbia. I tried to correct the wording to make it precise... certainly the rowhomes all over lower Roxborough, the small streets like Kinglsey, Dawson, etc, and the 100+ year old homes, do not fall into that category. I like Roxborough precisely because of the rich history, and also those old neighborhoods which remind you what Philadelphia was like back in Ben Franklin's day. chrisr710 02:14, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

I've heard it called "The Boro" alot, but it's mostly by the Roxborough Trash kids. You know exactly who I'm talking about. I think the neighborhood is very representitive of the city, in that you HATE it here, and you hate everything about it, but you're never going to leave because you just love it so damned much.
