Roxanne (model)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roxanne was a model and actress. She was born Delores Evelyn Rosedale on 20 March 1928 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was the blonde assistant on the Bud Collyer-hosted original version of the Goodson-Todman Productions game show Beat the Clock. Roxanne did not use a surname in her professional work.

Roxanne became pregnant and retired from show business when she left Beat the Clock in August 1955. She gave birth to her daughter Anne in December 1955. She would later give birth to four more children.

Roxanne had a doll which was fashioned after her which was called, naturally, The Roxanne Doll. It was a hard plastic doll which stood 18 inches tall. It had movable legs which allowed the doll to "walk." Manufactured circa 1953 by the Valentine Company, these dolls are still seen today in 2005 on web sites selling or auctioning vintage toys. The blue-eyed doll had a Beat the Clock tag on the doll's wrist, and came with a miniature red camera. Roxanne would give these dolls to the contestants' daughters on Beat the Clock.

As of May 2006, Roxanne is alive and well, living in Minnesota.

Roxanne is often confused with actresses Roxanne Arlen and Roxanne Sweeney.
