I guess it's all rather subjective due to the scarcity of intelligible words, but did Birkin really lose the love of his life because of his drinking, or was it because of the war? "Of course war came along... it was the end of it really between us..."
I believe the war tore them apart, and he got very drunk because of it. It may have been the source of his alcoholism.
- The war is definitely the most likely suspect, although there's enough ambiguity in the phrasing (transcript available here) that it could have been anything - or anyone, for that matter. Awesome sketch hough, either way (it had me in pieces...) Kinitawowi 10:19, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
