Olena Olefirenko later tested positive for the prohibited stimulant Ethamivan, which was contained in a medication that the athlete had declared. Consequently, the Ukrainian crew were stripped of their bronze medals, and sanctions recommended against the Ukrainian team doctor Ganna Gryshchenko. Australia were awarded the bronze.
