[edit] Summary
Description:
Schematic representation of a rotating disk (as seen from a co-rotating point of view), from which a small "fountain" ejects squirts of water. The drops of water are in inertial motion; no force is acting on the drops of water. This animation represents the motion of the drops of water with respect to a co-rotating coordinate system.
This animation is designed to be used together with Image:Rotating_fountain_coriolis_effect01.gif and Image:Rotating_fountain_coriolis_effect03.gif
Animation 01 shows the same disk and fountain, seen from an inertial point of view. Animation 03 is a sequence of 6 images, each depicting the centrifugal term and the coriolis term of the equation of motion for motion with respect to a rotating coordinate system.
