Roswell is a 1994 television movie based on the alleged true story from the testimony of hundreds of witnesses about the U.S. military recovery of a flying saucer and its alien crew following a crash near the town of Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947. It stars Kyle MacLachlan, Martin Sheen, Kim Greist, and Dwight Yoakam.
This film was produced by Paul Davids and is credited by some to have put the Roswell UFO incident in the mainstream media.
The script was based specifically on the book by Kevin D. Randle and Donald R. Schmitt, UFO Crash at Roswell.
[edit] Trivia
James MacDonald, who played an Area 51 soldier here, later appears in a similar role in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Little Green Men", that also focused on the Roswell UFO Incident.
