Ross River (Queensland)

The Ross River is the main river that flows through Townsville and Thuringowa, Queensland. The river itself has three weirs and a dam, the Dam is the main source of water for the two cities, Ross River Dam.
The Ross River has two distinctly different ecosystems. Above the Aplin's Weir is a fresh water environment and below the Weir there is a salt water environment. The River has seven different crossings, three Weirs and a dam.

The River is also infamous for the Ross River Fever, a mosquito born disease that was first contracted in the Townsville and Thuringowa Region.
