Rosokhrankultura

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Russian Federal Surveillance Service for Compliance with the Legislation in Mass Media and Cultural Heritage Protection (Rosokhrankultura) (Russian: Федеральная служба по надзору за соблюдением законодательства в сфере массовых коммуникаций и охране культурного наследия (Росохранкультура)) is a subdivision of the Culture Ministry of Russia, which oversees Russian mass media and cultural heritage, registers mass media outlets and licenses TV and radio broadcasting.

Since June 23, 2004, it has been led by Boris Boyarskov.

In March 2007 Rosokhrankultura warned the Kommersant newspaper that it shouldn't mention National Bolshevik Party on its pages, as the party had been denied official registration. [1]

According to a decree issued by President Vladimir Putin on March 12, 2007, Rosokhrankultura was to be merged with Rossvyaznadzor, service that surveilled Russian telecommunications, into a new service subordinate to the Government of Russia directly. [2] On March 27 Boris Boyarskov was appointed chairman of the new service. [3]
