Rosenholm municipality

Rosenholm municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Aarhus County on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 141 km², and has a total population of 10.325 (2005). Its mayor is Richard Volander, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.
The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Hornslet.
Neighboring municipalities are Rønde and Midtdjurs to the east, Sønderhald to the north, Hadsten to the west, and Aarhus to the southwest. A small part of its southern border is defined by the waters of Kalø Cove (Kalø Vig).
By January 1, 2007 Rosenholm municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Ebeltoft, Midtdjurs, and Rønde municipalities to form the new Syddjurs municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 693 km² and a total population of 40,196 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Midtjylland ("Mid-Jutland Region").
