[edit] Current Events

For the past several years, the 3-person Roseland town council has had the husband and wife pair of David and Dorothy Snyder, who fell in love and married after being elected. This caused a number of controversial issues that led to dramatically increased press. Issues included enforcing sign ordinances and a proposal to broaden the town council to 5 members to bring more balance. In January 2007, Dorothy Snyder was replaced on the council by Ted Penn as she did not seek re-election to the town council but instead sought a seat in the Indiana House of Representatives for District 8. Controversy continues as on the fifth day of the council's new term, a fight reportedly broke out between Penn and David Snyder, resulting in felony and misdemeanor charges being filed against Snyder. Ted Penn and the current town Clerk Treasurer, Cheryl Gridley, have had major disagreements about how she should be doing her job.
