Rose O'Neill

Rose Cecil O'Neill (June 25, 1874 - April 6, 1944) lived in Battle Creek and Omaha, Nebraska. She was a prominent illustrator and writer. O'Neill was the creator of the elf-like creature in 1909 which became the wildly popular Kewpie doll to accompany her magazine stories. She is credited with writing and illustrating more than 5,000 Kewpie stories.
