Rosane Collor

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rosane Malta Collor de Mello was the Brazilian first lady during the first presidency of her husband, Fernando Collor de Mello. Rosane was Collor's second wife and part of the politically powerful Malta family of Alagoas.

As first lady, she was given the honorary post as president of the Legião Brasileria de Assistência (LBA), a welfare organization, a position she left in 1991. In 1992 she was accused of embezzling funds from the LBA and directing them to friends and family. In April 2000, she was fined and condemned to 11 years in prison.

Visible rifts occurred between Rosane and Collor during his presidency, with the President appearing without his wedding ring. The two never had children; as of 2005, they appear to be separated.
