Image talk:Rose Bowl.JPG

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This picture looks like it was taken from the Google Earth Flyover, not USGS sattelite. Group29 12:23, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

That's not to say that a USGS satellite didn't take it in the first place, the USGS, as far as I know, do contribute aerials to Google Earth. δσώпҹ (talk)(cont) 12:28, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Regardless, if it came from Google, you cannot make a derivative work. See what I put on the page. I was less sure before than I am now after reading the Google maps help[1]. Group29 23:11, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Go to maps.google.com and put in Rose Bowl. Select sattelite and zoom in to the second closest magnification. The picture here, Rose Bowl.JPG was certainly a derivative work from the Google image. The copyright does not belong to the United States. The Google maps help states:

It is a good picture of the stadium and it was convenient. There is at least one other picture of the Rose Bowl that has been freely given to Wikipedia, although not as good Image:Uscvsucla2006.jpg.

[edit] Copyright examination

Looks copyright free to me... to User:Group29, I've seen the US taking photos of football grounds like this before... so what makes you sure that it isn't this time? δσώпҹ (talk)(cont) 12:27, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
