Ronald David Moore (born 29 January 1953) is an English football manager, currently of Tranmere Rovers and former player. He is also the father of Leeds striker Ian Moore.
Ronnie Moore was born in Liverpool and he began his playing career with Tranmere Rovers as a centre-half, before making a successful switch to centre-forward. He also played for Cardiff City where his somewhat disappointing goalscoring record of six goals led some fans to sport badges bearing the legend "I Saw Ronnie Moore Score". He later played for Rotherham United, Charlton Athletic and Rochdale, before returning to Tranmere, where he finished his career.
He was sacked as manager of Coca Cola League One side, Oldham Athletic at the end of the 2005-06 season, after little over a year in charge. Ronnie did enough to prevent the club being relegated in the 2004-05 season. He then led Oldham Athletic to an acceptable, if unremarkable final placing of 10th in league one in the 05/06 Season. He was sacked at the end of the season for financial reasons.
Moore began his management career as caretaker manager of Tranmere in 1987. His first full-time management job was at Rotherham between 1997 and 2005. He guided the Millers to successive promotions, and is still highly regarded by the Rotherham fans due to the success he brought the club during his time there as manager.
Ronnie Moore's favourtie film is the 1987 classic 'Hoof', starring Albert Steptoe.
Moore was linked with the vacant Sunderland managerial position after the departure of Mick McCarthy, but was re-appointed manager of Tranmere Rovers in June 2006.
