Ronche (Sacile)

Ronche is a small hamlet in north east Italy, a fraction of Sacile in the province of Pordenone in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It is located about 15 km east of the town of Pordenone.
The population of about 70 includes a number of American nationals who work at the nearby Aviano air base which became the subject of unwelcome publicity on 3 February 1998 when one of its jets, on a training exercise, sliced through ski-lift cables in the town of Cavalese causing the deaths ot 20 people.

An industrial-scale brickworks existed here in the fourteenth century which continued in existence until 1957. Today the main economic activity is farming.

The Sagra delle brombolete, a festival dedicated to a variety of small yellow plum, is held on the third Sunday of each July.
