Ronald Cerritos (born January 3, 1975 in San Salvador, El Salvador) is a Salvadoran football (soccer) forward, who last played for Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer.
Cerritos has spent the bulk of his career playing in MLS -- he was signed by the league March 21, 1997, and allocated to the San Jose Clash. Cerritos had his most successful years with the Clash and, subsequently, the rechristened Earthquakes; he was named to the MLS Best XI in his first year with the club. However, in the offseason after the 2001 season, Cerritos was traded to the Dallas Burn for Ariel Graziani. He never was able to settle into Dallas, both having trouble earning a starting spot, and struggling with injuries.
After a year and a half in Dallas, over which he scored seven goals, Cerritos was traded to D.C. United for Ali Curtis and a first-round pick in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft. Cerritos again was largely unproductive in D.C., and was cut midway through the 2004 season because his play was not justifying his large salary, and returned to play for Alianza in his native El Salvador. However, after the season, he came back to MLS and his original team, with San Jose acquiring him from DC for a draft pick. His 61 goals for San Jose is the team record. Along with the rest of his Earthquakes teammates, he moved to Houston for the 2006 season. However, his stint on the Houston Dynamo squad was short-lived, as he was released in August 2006.
Cerritos has been a mainstay on the El Salvador national team being the only foreign based player on the squad. He has made more than 40 appearances for El Salvadors national team. He made his debut against Yugoslavia on November 12, 1995 and he scored his first goal for El Salvador in a 2-1 victory over Colombia on May 29, 1999.
