Romeo Bragato

Romeo Bragato was an Italian-born and educated viticulturist who worked for the Victorian government in Australia. In 1895, he was asked to study the prospects for viticulture and wine making in New Zealand. His resulting report was very positive and became important in promoting the development of the wine industry there. Bragato also authored Viticulture in New Zealand. It appears that the growing temperance movement later adversely affected his career.
