The television series Picket Fences is set in the town of Rome, Wisconsin, which is presumably not intended to be either of the above Romes. The Rome of Picket Fences was close to Green Bay. Rome in Adams County is a year round resort area with golf, water skiing, fishing, snowmobiling, hunting and other outdoor pursuits. It is very down to earth, but growing more affluent every year.
