[edit] History
- The airline was established on 3 April 1991 and started operations later in the same year. It is wholly owned by the Romanian government (Ministry of National Defense) [1].
- Romavia announced that they will buy two Airbus A310 from TAROM and it will pay the required maintenance for them, maintenance that will be performed at an authorized foreign base. One aircraft will become the official presidential airplane, replacing the aging Boeing 707 used since 1974, while the other one will be used for the transport of Romanian troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as for other official missions.[citation needed]
- As of March 2007, the company will take delivery of a second BAe 146-200 aircraft (registration YR-BEB) and it will launch on April 23 three scheduled destinations from its homebase Bucharest OTP : Nuremberg, Strasbourg and Târgu Mureş. [3]

The worst disaster in Romavia history occurred on 13 December 1995 when Antonov An-24 (YR-AMR), operating an international non-scheduled passenger flight, crashed shortly after taking off from Verona, because of an overload of nearly 3 tons of ice on its wings. There were no survivors.[citation needed]
