The Roman Catholic Church in Ecuador is part of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope and curia in Rome.

It is one of the most Catholic countries in the world - around 12 million out of a total population of 13 million profess the Catholic faith. The country is divided into 23 dioceses or territorial jurisdictions.

Catholicism was introduced in the 1530s and the first diocese was erected in 1545. Highly influential during colonial period, the Church was practically enslaved by constitution enacted (1824) after independence from Spain.
