Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis is a particular church of the Roman Catholic Church in the United States. It was canonically erected from territories taken from the Diocese of Bardstown on May 6, 1834 as the Diocese of Vincennes. It was renamed on March 28, 1898 becoming the Diocese of Indianapolis. The diocese was raised to the dignity of an archdiocese on October 21, 1944.

The archdiocese is administered by the Archbishop of Indianapolis from the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in the City of Indianapolis in Indiana. The current Archbishop is Daniel M. Buechlein, OSB.
