[edit] El Niño
Regarding your addition of the info on " Anti-Niño" that you added to the El Niño article: I had never seen the term, so I Googled it. It looks like it is most commonly found on Spanish-language websites. Do you know any more about the usage of the word that might be appropriate to add to the El Niño article? [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Yaodong Yangjialing Zhou Enlai.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Yaodong Yangjialing Zhou Enlai.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. --cohesion★talk 09:09, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:Bju_scene_02.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Bju_scene_02.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as {{db-unksource}}.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

[edit] Request for edit summary
Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 4% for major edits and 89% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 9 minor edits in the article namespace.)
This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 08:30, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Images for Beijing Jiaotong University
Carnildo: I downloaded those images from the official website of Beijing Jiaotong University. I don't know the authors of those images---except I assumed that the university authority would agree with the use of those images in a Wikipedia entry about their university. --Roland 21:57, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- "I believe they would agree with the use" isn't good enough. Wikipedia requires the images to be explicitly released under a free license, such as the GFDL or one of the Creative Commons licenses that allows re-use and commercial use. --Carnildo 03:08, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Day length
Hi, is there any content to go with the image on the Day length page? The image on it's own seems like original research, and will probably be deleted. Kevin 04:09, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- I myself did the computation and plotting using standard formulas. It may be considered original, but it is not too much original. --Roland 04:16, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- If you could put some text as well, to put the image into context for readers that would be useful. I would have a go myself, but I don't know the subject. Kevin 04:36, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hi
I don't spend much time on Wiki anymore but I wanted to applaud your work in Chinese studies as well as the category Non-chinese known by Chinese names. Do you live or work in China?
Best, David Russo Dpr 03:18, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

- Thank you, David, for your compliments! I am originally from China, and I have lived in the US for over 10 years. ----Roland 03:47, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
