Rollo Coaster is a wooden roller coaster located at Idlewild Park near Ligonier, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1938 by the leading roller coaster builder of that era, the Philadelphia Toboggan Company. It was Idlewild's first and only roller coaster for decades until the larger Wild Mouse coaster was erected in 1993.
Built over the hillside at Idlewild Park, Rollo Coaster goes up a small lift hill and goes down some dips, including a small double dip and then around a swooping curve and over several more dips before returning to the station. This ride features two trains, with up to twelve riders per train, and is located next to the Merry Go Round and Trinado at Idlewild Park. It is the only wooden coaster at Idlewild.
[edit] Trivia
- When it premiered at Idlewild in 1938, it was the first roller coaster in the Ligonier region.
- The Rollo Coaster was built using the park's own wood and trees.
- The trains were repainted in 2004 as green, yellow, and red, leaving the green look behind.
