Rolf Wideröe

Rolf Wideröe (July 11, 1902 - October 11, 1996), Norwegian particle physicist, was born in Oslo. In 1920, he studied physics in Karlsruhe, Germany. In 1924, he returned to Norway, but went back to Karlsruhe in 1925.
Wideröe specialized in particle accelerators, pioneering in the construction of cyclotrons. He worked at CERN and the DESY project. His work also finds applications in medicine, especially cancer treatment.
