Roland RD-700

The RD-700 is a digital stage piano produced by Roland Corporation. It contains stereo sampled piano sounds, as well as a collection of GM2-compatible sounds. It is designed for live use, and the operation panel includes the most used functions to avoid menu navigation.

The Roland RD-700 has subsequently been updated by the introduction of the RD-700SX in 2005. The SX carries with it two new piano samples, one of which comes from Roland's own Fantom-X range. Both of these piano samples make use of 88-note sampling, sampled at a variety of velocity levels. What this means is that Roland has undertaken to simulate the highest level of piano realism by recording the tone levels of every key on the piano at varying levels of playing (soft, medium, loud). The result is a stunning new stage piano to add to Roland's line.
