[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Dollarsign.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Dollarsign.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags.

[edit] Let me know

I'm still pissed over the out-of-process speedy deletion of "User no Rand" by our favorite userbox deletionist. This userbox jihad has to be put to an end. Let me know when you've finished marking up the paperwork, I'm more then happy to sign my name affirming the violations you outlined. We may be on different sides of the protest line, but it's great that we can agree on freedom of speech. --Dragon695 05:59, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

Indeed, I was referring to the Tony Sidaway RfC I saw you mention on God of War's talk page. Sorry to be so vague about it, but I didn't know if you wanted it kept mum while you were still gathering evidence. With respect to the anti-Rand box, the only attempt I made to reason with Tony was on DRV, but got little if no substantive response from him. All I heard was "attack box", "attack box", "attack box" from all the clones. Nobody actually bothered to address the fact that it was speedied out of process. Also, perhaps you're in a better position to judge, but is randroid really that serious of a pejoritive? I mean I thought it was all in good fun, like when some people call me a moonbat. I guess there are some rather thin-skinned individuals around here. Thanks again for taking this on. --Dragon695 20:03, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tony RfC

FYI, the User:pacifist3 links don't work anymore.

I'm not sure how involved I'll be in this RfC. I'll probably sign a support, but at this point I'd rather let the new CSD go forward and see what happens. Tony's previous edits were annoying, but.. well, let's just say I don't need any more acrimony in my life right now. --Fang Aili 16:41, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I understand that you are starting a request for comments on a matter on which you have some disagreement with me. However, I don't think I've ever encountered you before, and I do not see your name in the history of my talk page. Have you made any attempt to raise your concerns with me? --Tony Sidaway 17:47, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
If you're talking to me, no. I did make one comment at {{user freedom}}, which you may have seen. I didn't follow up with it, though (i.e. comment on your talk page directly). Rogue, I think you may want to withdraw the RfC at this point, because it seems this hasn't been discussed with Tony properly. --Fang Aili 18:03, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

I don't know if this will help your RFC or not, [1] This edit shows tony's an example of Tony's Hatred and disregard for process.--God of War 23:44, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Participant alert regarding Wikiproject on Advertising

The Wikiproject No Ads, created as a backlash against the Answers.com deal, has served an important function in providing a space for users to express their disagreement with the Foundation proposal. While the current controversies about userboxes raise questions about political and social advocacy on Wikipedia, there should be greater flexibility regarding advocacy about Wikipedia in the Wikipedia namespace. Reported and linked by Slashdot and other press sources as a unique and spontaneous occurence in Wikipedia history, it has apparently had some impact as, despite being scheduled to begin in January, not a peep has been heard about the trial and proposed sponsored link since the deal's controversial announcement months ago. Currently, however, there is an attempt to delete the project or move it off Wikipedia altogether. Since the Foundation has provided no additional information and has not attempted to answer the specific questions that participants in the project raised, it is unclear if the Answers.com deal has been abandoned or simply delayed. Until the situation becomes more clear, I believe the group should still have a place in the Wikipedia namespace. Sincerely, Tfine80 00:14, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Crossing flags

Please do not cross flags on your user page. This may offend others and is even considered a crime in many countries. I am sure you are able to express your valuable opinion in a respectful way. May I ask why you dislike a Union you do not even belong to? Imagine someone crossed the flag of your country. ROGNNTUDJUU! 21:02, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Dissent against the government is also a crime in many countries; am I to therefore abrogate my right to do so in my own? If I was in a nation that outlawed crossing out the flag, then I would do so as an act of civil disobedience. And people burn the American flag many times a day all around the world including in the United States itself; I'm not about to go on some crusade to stop them. As for why, the userbox says that I don't trust the EU, and I don't. I similarly do not trust the United Nations, the government of China, or the government of the U.S. for that matter. Rogue 9 12:29, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for taking the time to answer. I just think it would be more respectful to show your legitimate concerns in a different way then crossing out a flag many feel represented by. By the way, why did you single out the EU if you also distrust your own government and China? And why do you show your own flag with "Proud to be American" while you cross out that of others? Pride come before a fall I would say. You wrote at my user page that I "just copy/pasted the same message to everyone, presuming that everyone with the box was American, evidently." That is untrue. I noted to some British users that for example their Kingdom is a union, too. I am perfectly ok if someone expresses concerns about the EU or any other union. I am concerned myself about the agricultural subsidies and antidumping cases in the EU and US, for example. I however think that there are more respectful ways to express concerns than crossing out a flag many people fill represented by. I thought it would be more respectful to tell every user the reason why I listed the image for deletion as it was solely used for a user box that had already been deleted for being disruptive and was set up again on personal pages. What I got out of this is a massive amount of delete votes for a respect template I created and a massive keep vote for the respectless crossed out EU flag. But I also convinced some users that there are nicer ways to express their legitimate opinion, and I am thus sure that I achieved at least something. Have a good time here. [edit] About a userbox

Hello there.

I was looking through your user page and noticed that you had a unique userbox for Irish users, one that I haven't seen on the main lists. Being about 50% Irish, I'm using it on my page as well. I just wanted to make sure that it was OK with you if I used it, since I'm not sure if you or someone else created it.

Thanks

Thanks for uploading Image:Poster_LASTVote.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. [edit] Rand

Hi, mainly I wanted to let you know I enjoyed reading your user page. (I laughed out loud at "would shoot Greedo first." I think I would too). I was also psyched to see you support PW - I think they're great, and similarly entertaining about it. About the Rand/gay rights thing, the nearest I can figure is she is included in both categories because her philosophy inspired some gay people to be more comfortable following their self-interest, and in the against category because she was against the pc-like granting of special privileges to any minority groups, and also personally thought homosexuality was a psychiatric problem. That, and whether to list her as Russian, Jewish, American, etc. appears to have been an ongoing issue before I started editing that article, just FYI. Oh, and you probably should avoid profanity in your edit summaries, but it's a free country and all, so do what you like. Cheers, Kaisershatner 19:28, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright?

I think I might need the help of you and some other experienced editors here. I'm not really a fan of the guy, but I wanted to improve the Klaus Nomi article so I cleaned it up a bit and added a picture. Now, I clearly showed where this came from when I uploaded the image, which is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:NOMI2.JPG

I think I made it pretty clear who this image belongs to. I'm probably doing something wrong here, but I'm not totally sure. All of this seems just a little bit ridiculous to me. Then again, so does most of wikipedia at this point. Since I have to add some kind of tag to this, what would you suggest that I use? Seeing as how the image is

©2003 George DuBose.

I'm not sure what tag it would fall under.

[edit] Wikipedia_talk:Censorship

A watered-down version of the proposed policy against censorship is now open for voting. Will you knidly review the policy and make your opinions known? Thank you very much. Loom91 10:59, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

  • I think many who would take our side against the menace of censorship do not know about this poll. If you have some time to spare, would you mind posting a short message on their talk page (like mine) to let them know of this poll and invite them to voice their opinions? By involving more people, a larger portion of the Wikipedia community can have their say, for or against the policy. Some places you can go for a list of users are Wikipedia_talk:Censorship#Support, and ,. If you don't have the time, feel free to ignore this request. Thank you. Loom91 09:13, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi Rogue 9,

I noticed from the Inclusionist category page that you're an inclusionist, too, so I was wondering if you would be able to do me a huge favor and possibly place a vote here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Embarazada. I added a ton to it, citing my sources. If you could, I would be greatly in your debt.

Best wishes,

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Clam-quahog.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Clam-quahog.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 10:52, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for HEAVY MODERATION at Evangeline Lilly

Due to the fact that there's been A LOT OF SPAM and A LOT OF UNWARRANTED EDITS in this article, it has came to my attention that this article has been severely beaten up to death. I hereby do request that this article be heavily moderated by anyone who knows A LOT about Evangeline Lilly in order to prevent a plethora of unwarranted edits and spams from coming into this article. I'm not gonna edit this article unless otherwise necessary but I am going to be more touchy with this article and because of what I have been seeing over the last couple of months, I do request that moderators and people who know more about Evangeline Lilly than myself (namely Yamla, I'm thinking Yamla knows more about Lilly than myself) to heavily moderate this article so that both spamming and unwarranted edits are being controlled. I'm not going to state messages like this but I really feel that this article has gone WAY OUT OF CONTROL and I think it's time to start getting serious about making this article encyclopediatrical. — Mark Kim (Reply/Start Talk) 15:50, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

It is against Wikipedia's policy to include fair use images outside of the main "article" space. [edit] Warhammer 40,000 edits

Hi. Just a quick message to say "Thanks" for all your recent spelling/grammar etc fixes to the Warhammer 40,000 related articles. If you're interested in this sort of thing, I'll just give a very quick plug for WikiProject Warhammer 40,000. Cheers --Pak21 11:44, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

You're welcome. When I look up something and see spelling and grammar errors, I just start fixing, and then follow the links on the page and keep fixing there until I either get bored or have fixed the entire topic. It's no big deal; just part of what I do when I'm reading. Rogue 9 12:08, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] hello Rogue 9 theBlackbay here 

Help From fellow Wikipedians against censorship!

Thank you for your time I was wondering if i could ask your opinion?? :)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/G. Edward Griffin here is the Article on G. Edward Griffin that I have just reconstructed and am still in the process of doing, But it's been put up for deletion?.

I was wondering if you could pitch in a comment in any direction you feel but I believe this man is very notable having Authored such books as The Creature from Jekyll Island a history of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, but also many many more films as well, also being a member of many organisations.

Me being an inclusionist of sorts I would rather see changes made rather than a wholesale deletion, what do you think?

The man is very notable he has been doing this sort of work since the 60’s when he created the “The Capitalist Conspiracy” one of the first and most documented histories of Political Corruption in film that I know of.

Thank you for all your help, I’m just starting out in Wikipedia I have created the Benjamin H. Freedman, article and reconstructed the The Money Masters article and some others but I need help here! Any help of mine you may need or want in any regard in the future just ask :)

Also any contribution you would like to make to improve the article please consider!

Really i wouldn't ask if i did not really think this article worthy.

[edit] No Personal Attacks

With regards to your comments on Talk:Protest Warrior: Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. "Do not make personal attacks anywhere in Wikipedia. Comment on content, not on the contributor. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users." Please keep this in mind while editing. Thanks. --Kuzaar-T-C- 12:15, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Specifically I refer to the following veiled personal attack:

"For example, I could have easily and justifiably called him a fucking moron, but refrained from using that most accurate description because of the silly, anachronistic view that policy takes on using the English language to it's fullest extent when it comes to other editors."

It looks especially bad if you accuse another editor of trolling and then yourself go on to make a thinly veiled troll of that very user. Please refrain from this in the future. I had hoped that with NBGPWS's block that the editing of this page would become less tendentious and divisive- just remember not to let him bait you and you should be fine. --Kuzaar-T-C- 12:15, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hey!

I took a look at your userpage for the first time just now.

  • I like playing real-time strategy games and while I stopped playing role-playing games years ago I still enjoy reading their arcane and well-illustrated rulebooks.
  • Love your political views; they're very close to mine and we joined PW for the same reason.
  • I too am a wikipedian inclusionist.
  • I'm a Buddhist but think I may be becoming Christian (not that the two are mutually exclusive, mind you!)
  • I also share your strong views on "vote stuffing" and the UN.
  • Love the quotes on your userpage!
  • Love your useboxes, especially those about userboxes (metaboxes?) and admins. Lawyer2b 04:55, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Heh. Thanks. I put some work into that page way back before the userbox wars; they wreaked havoc on my page for awhile there with all the random deletions and restorations and page moves and whatnot. At least that's died down, though the solution seems less than ideal to me. Rogue 9 09:44, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Happy Birthday

I know it's a bit late-well, you actually live outside the Eastern Time Zone, I think, so it's probably not as late for you-but I just thought I'd wish you a happy birthday.

Just noticed it a few minutes ago.

Salud!

Many happy returns, Rogue. Ruthfulbarbarity 01:35, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Heh. Thanks. It's still the 9th here, but I'll keep it in mind in about half an hour. Rogue 9 05:25, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Ha.
Well, it's the thought that counts. Ruthfulbarbarity 21:19, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] We have a lot in common

I looked at everything that you have posted in your UserBox, and I noticed that we have a lot in common. Maybe we could IM or something.... If you're interested respond in my discussion area. BTW, I have no clue how to format my UserBox, it is a mess. --WilliamC24 22:30, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Sure, don't see why not. My e-mail is in my profile; just go to my userpage and click the "E-mail this user" link in the toolbox on the left. I don't want to post my IM information all over Wikipedia. And I can help you out with the userbox formatting if you want; it isn't terribly hard. Rogue 9 23:21, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
Just letting you know that it's not working, I don't think you have it enabled. --WilliamC24 23:55, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
I'd forgotten to authenticate it; the address should work now. Rogue 9 01:26, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for your award

Even though it was a stupid award with a fatuous caption, I value your interest in my editing just the same. Please make any further stupid edits in the Wikipedia:Sandbox, though. Best wishes, Bishonen | talk 09:02, 3 December 2006 (UTC).

Usually I'd put in the effort to do better, but I was in a hurry. Regardless, Wikipedia is not censored. Rogue 9 09:13, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Okay. It's still a personal attack and very bad behavior. The award, however, is well-deserved. |||||| E. Sn0 =31337= Talk to me :D 09:18, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I miss...

Mr. Snugglebunny (Alphawulf PW forum oldgard) Izzy1985 23:48, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Well then, I can get you back into contact with him. Won't post the URL here on Wikipedia, but I know where he hangs his hat these days. Go to my userpage and click the "E-mail this user" link in the toolbox on the left; that'll let you send me an e-mail. I'll respond to that to tell you where to go. Rogue 9 03:21, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
