Rogue Male (film)

Rogue Male is a 1976 film for television starring Peter O'Toole. The film is a re-make of the 1941 film by Fritz Lang, Man Hunt, and is based on Geoffrey Household's novel Rogue Male.

The film was commissioned by the BBC and was directed by Clive Donner, scripted by Frederic Raphael, and also starred Alastair Sim, John Standing and Harold Pinter. The film is 102 minutes in length.

In a BBC Radio 4 interview on 26th January 2007, Peter O'Toole named this film as his favorite from his long career.

Before the start of World War II, Sir Robert Thorndyke (O' Toole) takes aim at Adolph Hitler with a high powered rifle, but the shot misses; Thorndyke is captured and tortured by the Gestapo and left for dead; however, he makes his way back to England where, to his shock, he discovers the Gestapo has followed him. Believing that the government would in all likelihood turn him over to German authorities, Sir Robert goes underground in his battle with his pursuers.
