Rog-O-Matic
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rog-O-Matic is described as a "belligerent expert system". It is a program that plays the computer game Rogue. Because all information in Rogue is communicated to the player via ASCII text, Rog-O-Matic automatically has access to the same information that a human player has. Tested against expert Rogue players, Rog-O-Matic performs well, even winning the game, which is considered an enormous feat.
Angband, a descendant of Rogue (see Roguelike), has a computer player called "APW-Borg" which has successfully completed the game. Although Angband is considered easier to win than Rogue (although still very difficult), it is a much more complex game.
