Rodrigo Simms

Rodrigo Simms (born 1984) is a British man who was found guilty, along with three others, for his part in the New Year Murders.
Simms, a member of the Burger Bar Boys, was jailed for life for the slayings of Letisha Shakespeare and Charlene Ellis who were shot outside a hair salon in Aston on January 2 2003.
Simms, along with Nathan Martin, Marcus Ellis, and Michael Gregory, was sentenced to life imprisonment at Leicester Crown Court in March 2005, with a recommended minimum term of 27 years. The other three killers received recommended minimum terms of 35 years; Simms was recommended for a lesser minimum term because he was only 18 at the time of the killings.
He was also convicted of the attempted murders of Sophie Ellis and Cheryl Shaw, for which he was sentenced to 18 years, to run concurrently with his life sentence.
The trial judge's recommendation means that Rodrigo Simms is expected to remain in prison until at least 2031 and the age of 47.
