I restored the image because I deleted the image and you were not notified on your user page as required by Wikipedia image deletion policy. There are several problem with the image.

  • 1. It is not linked to an article. Orphan images will be deleted. It may have been linked to an article and removed by someone else. So you could link it to an article to solve this issue.
  • 2. The image has no image copyright tag, which is required for uploading an image to make sure there are no copyright issues. Please tag the image appropriately. You can read Wikipedia:Image use policy if you have not already. The article may help.
  • 3. You said you had permission to use the image but you have no evidence to back that up. You must have an e-mail or other written documentation from the copyright holder giving permission to use the image under a free license such as GFDL or Creative Commons or releasing the image to the public domain. That documenation should be copied to the image description page including contact information for the copyright holder for verification. See Image talk:Zebra finch.jpg.

If you click this link Image:Wiki pic students.JPG, you should see the image. If you are looking in an article for the image, then it would not be there, as the image is not linked to anything. Please link it to the article you intended the image to be in.

You need written permission from the photographer, his agency or the school (whoever owns the copyright) to release the image. I would recommend a Creative Commons license and it must be a license that allows commercial use.. The permission must include the license they are agreeing to. Just saying "You have my permission to use this image on Wikipedia" is not enough. They need to say "I/We license this image under Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike License v2.5."

If you cannot get this kind of release, then the image will not be allowed on Wikipedia as it would be copyright infringement. The best thing to do then is create a similar image yourself, as I am assuming the sign in the image still exists. If the sign no longer exists, then you might be able to claim fair use with the rationale that a similar free image could no longer be created. Regards Nv8200p talk 19:02, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading Image:Wiki pic students.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
