Rockwell Green

Rockwell Green is a Village in far West Taunton Deane, Somerset England. It lies just East of the Somerset Devon border and is overlooked by the Blackdown Hills.

Wellington monument is visible from almost anywhere in the village.

Rockwell Green is most famous for its rail bridge, under which a steam train was first recorded traveling at over 100mph in 1904, there has been numerous requests for a plaque or monument to be placed at the Beam Bridge hotel or Westford Rail bridge, however very little has come of this so far.

Two large water towers, 1 concrete (below), 1 redbrick, both disused, also bring a small amount of visitors to the village.

A number of the houses in the original village are council owned, rumour has it that the village was created to keep the "riff raff" out of Wellington, the neighbouring town, however as true as this may or may not be, Rockwell Green is actually older than Wellington. In 1991 the population was estimated at 1618. Recently however, more houses have been built and the population has almost doubled in the last 10 years.

The Village has a Butcher’s, 3 Pubs, a Fish & Chips, a Post Office, a General Store and a Church.
