Rockets Redglare
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rockets Redglare (8 May 1949 - 28 May 2001) was an American actor who appeared in over 30 films during his lifetime.
[edit] Brief biography
Rockets Redglare was born Michael Morra in New York City. As a result of his mother's drug abuse, he was born addicted to heroin. His entire life was plagued by battles with alcohol, heroin, and methadone. [1] He reputedly sold Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen drugs on the day that Spungen died, making Redglare (according to rumor) the last person besides Vicious to see Spungen alive.
He made his acting debut in the 1984 Eric Mitchell film The Way It Is, also known as Euridice on the Avenues, a film whose cast also included Steve Buscemi and Vincent Gallo, who also composed the soundtrack. Later that year, he appeared in the Jim Jarmusch film Stranger Than Paradise[2], going on to appear in dozens more films before his death in 2001 from a combination of kidney failure, liver failure, cirrhosis and hepatitis C.
