[edit] Summary
During a vacation period at the school, the group plans to have a party at Yumi's house. Odd promises to have a DJ at the party. This DJ, named Samantha, is also his girlfriend, who goes to another school. After meeting up, she has Odd take her to the computer room. Once they arrive, she tries to steal a laptop, since she's too poor to purchase one. Odd stops her, but ends up being caught by Jim. Meanwhile, XANA causes the ground under the city to turn into mud, making all the buildings sink.
[edit] Recap
The episode starts out as the gang talks in the breezeway vestibule of the Administrative Wing. Ulrich punches the air, saying, "All right! A three-day weekend. That's fantastic!" Yumi says that since her parents will be gone for the weekend she will like to throw a party. Odd says that he already has the DJ settled. Ulrich says that he doesn't want Sissi's music.
In Yumi's house, Yumi asks her parents if she can have a party at the house. Her father at first refuses, but after some bargaining and negotiation, he consents. Excited, Yumi kisses her father on the cheek and tells him he's the greatest. As she dashes down the front hall and out the door, her parents smile at each other.
Meanwhile, Jeremie is concerned about the fact that he can't get in contact with Lyoko, meaning he can't talk to Aelita. Outside on one of the side pathways in the Park, one of the lowlying pathside orb lamps lights up and one of XANA's ghosts slithers out and into the ground.
In the dorms, Ulrich and Odd are having a sliding contest in the hallway to see who can go the farthest in their socks. Ulrich prepares to slide while Odd provides commentary to Yumi via his cell phone. Jeremie, playing referee, holds his hand in the "gun-finger" position up in the air and "pulls the trigger," saying, "Bang." Taking the start signal, Ulrich runs down the hall towards the chalk line and slides. His momentum carries him to the stairwell door at the opposite end of the hall. Jeremie runs to Ulrich's stop point and plants a miniature flag marker there. Odd says dejectedly, "He beat me," as Jeremie declares the new record. All of the sudden Jim comes and Odd says "Uh-oh, gotta go. Secret code, big fat clown." Yumi laughs and says "Gotcha!" Jim comes and says in an angry tone, "I don't understand you three. Every vacation you always stay behind. Probably because your parents are sick of you. I sympathize with them!" Then Odd says they stay because they like hanging out in the school. Jim gives them a nasty glare and angrily orders them to go back to their rooms immediately, much to their disappointment. When he leaves (walking far away and causing the double doors to swing for a few seconds), Odd tries to beat Ulrich's record, but he falls and a picture of the DJ—an African-American girl around Yumi's age—falls out. Ulrich and Jeremie look at the picture, Odd gets embarrassed, swipes the picture and in an anemic voice says, "You don't recognize her? She goes to school here. I have to go now." He walks away with his head down.
Outside, Odd is sitting near the Cafeteria. His cell phone vibrates and says, "That must be her!". Odd meets this girl in the small plaza on the side of the Science Building. The new girl, Samantha, is of African ancestry and wears dark clothing, a plaid miniskirt (almost a kilt), a neck collar and has a pink streak in her otherwise jet black hair. Odd says, "Hi" and, after a long moment, kisses her with enough passion to make fireworks blast off. They both look at the side and blush. Odd asks her how's it going, and she said she is doing fine, adding in that it was hard to get out of her school. When Odd tells her that he found some new music tracks she could possibly use, Sam says, "I'm tired of talking about music. Ready for a big thrill session?" Odd assumes that this is a sexual comment and blushes, responding nervously in the affirmative. Sam then commands him seductively, "Then take me to the Computer Lab, Odd!" Inside the Science Building, Odd takes Sam to the Computer Lab in the basement level. There she wants to get the most powerful laptop, which is sitting on a desk amidst cardboared boxes stuffed with old electron gun computer monitors. When Sam picks up the laptop, Odd tells her that that's stealing, but she says that if she wants to rock she needs the best equipment, as she comes from a not-so-wealthy family. Odd suddenly hears Jim, silences Samantha with a "shhhh" and a cover of her lips with his hand, and hides Sam under the desk. When Jim comes in, he sees Odd holding on to the laptop, a "caught" expression on his face. In a shocked voice, Jim says that he wouldn't believed it of Odd to steal such powerful equipment. Odd tries to make an excuse, but it doesn't work on Jim, who transports Odd to his office. When he leaves the room, he foolishly locks the door, effectively trapping Sam within.
In Jim's office, Ulrich and Jeremie stick up for their wildcard friend and tell Jim that theft is not Odd's style. Jeremie says that if Odd needed a computer, he could always have used his. Jim says that if that was the case why didn't Odd simply ask for permission to use the laptop. In the same anemic voice he displayed earlier in the corridor, Odd tells Jim he did what he did because he though Jim would say no. Jim pounds on the desk and asks Odd if the wildcard believes him to be an idiot. He then demands that he learn the truth immediately! Odd's cell phone rings at this moment, and Jim warns Odd not to answer, citing the rule "Cell phone use is strictly forbidden on school grounds.". Odd disobeys the warning and prepares to talk. Jim furiously confiscates the phone and sends Odd, Ulrich and Jeremie on their way.
Outside on the Athletic Field, Jeremie and Ulrich ask Odd what that was all about. In the background, smoke can be seen coming up from the Science Building's foundation. Odd gets the anemic voice again and walks away with his head down, saying he has things to do. He stops when he sees the entire Science Building sinking into the ground. They all believe it is XANA's doing. Odd tells Ulrich and Jeremie the whole story about him and Sam. Jeremie calls Yumi, who is freshining up in her bathroom, and tells her to strike out for the Factory. Jeremie and Yumi beeline for the Factory while Odd and Ulrich go and save Sam.
Ulrich and Odd enter the wing of a Classroom Building that is directly across the pathway from the Science Building. The two tie a rope to the end of a spear and Ulrich tosses it out of the open window, trying to make contact with another window on the adjacent Science Building. He misses and the spear bounces off the cinderblock wall and into a deep lake of mud. Apparently the school grounds have been submerged. Odd tells Ulrich to concentrate as the latter of the two pulls the muddy spear up to the window level again. Ulrich aims carefully and this time he manages to break the window and secure the spear. The two use the rope as a zipline and slide down it into the classroom.
In the Computer Lab the pressure from the mud has broken the windows and is seeping in. Sam is panicking and trying to break the lock by yanking on the door handle. She screams that she is never going to get out. At that moment, Odd says that they are coming for her. Ulrich kicks the door in and frees Sam.
The campus is not faring well against the mud. Most of the Athletic Field has sunk in and the soccer goal posts have collapsed. The Classroom Buildings are sinking and the Science Building has actually tipped over partially. In a workout room at the Gymnasium, the radio is blaring the song "Eye of the Tiger" by the American rock group Survivor. Jim is lifting weights to this and doesn't notice the window sink below ground level.
The city is not making out much better than the school campus. Yumi is dashing across the Downtown's main intersetion towards the Riverfront. As she makes it past the produce shop, she hears rumbling. Yumi watches in awe as an entire city block of offices and department stores is swallowed by the earth. She asks herself what's going on and keeps running towards the Factory. When she arrives, Yumi is transferred, scanned and virtualized into Lyoko. Ulrich and Odd get there in time and leave Sam with Jeremie. Sam admits that she is utterly confused and is at a loss for what is going on. She asks Odd where they are. Odd just goes into the elevator and it closes and mutters, "Girls..."
In Lyoko, Ulrich and Odd are virtualized. After being greeted by Aelita, a swarm of Hornets comes and attacks the gang. Ulrich and Yumi take on the leading Hornets while Odd dispatches the others. Yumi gets hit twice by the leading Hornet and gets devirtualized. Ulrich also gets hit twice but at the same time destroys the leader. Ulrich pays the price for this by getting devirtualized.
At Kadic, Jim is doing push up and notices the mud coming in. He seeks refuge in an empty storage cabinet and dials the emergency number. He says "Hello. Listen, I need help. I'm at the junior high school, I'm trapped in a closet, and there's tons of mud pouring in here." It seems that the operator doesn't believe him and Jim angrily says, "No, lady. This is not a practical joke!"
In Lyoko, Odd destroys the Hornets, but gets devirtualized in two shots. Luckily, this is just enough for Aelita to get to the Tower before being attacked.
The level of mud keeps going up and almost drowns Jim, who cries out in a frightened and hopeless tone, "Help! I-I don't want to die!"
Aelita enters the code LYOKO and deactivates the Tower, Jeremie activates the Return Trip and the timestream is reversed.
After the trip back in time, Odd takes Sam to Jeremie's room. There, Ulrich and Jeremie meet Sam. Sam thought that they were going to the Computer Lab and angrily tells Odd that he promised her that no one else knew about them. Odd tells her that Jeremie is the computer genius and he has a laptop that he will help her rock. Jeremie pleasantly tells Sam that he can show her what she can do when she has access to "really great equipment." While Jeremie give a visual tutorial, Sam heartily thanks Odd. Both smile at each other. The episode ends on that.
