[edit] Origins

RockSomething (rocksomething) is a British-based music webzine set up by UK music journalist Adam Harrold in 2005. The zine's title came about from a conversation between Adam Harrold and the metal author Malcolm Dome. Failing to come up with an available website domain name, Adam asked Malcolm for advice - the website needed to be called "Rock... something..." he explained, Malcolm informed him that would actually do for a name!

RockSomething first went online in August 2005 covering a range of rock and metal artists including, Iron Maiden, Tony McPhee and Rainbow. Based primarily of reviews and interviews the website's content and audience quickly grew within the first few months of being active.

Following interviews included DragonForce, Blind Guardian, Masterplan, Tony Martin, Paul Di'Anno, Doro Pesch, Gamma Ray, Primal Fear, Joe Lynn Turner and UFO.

The aim of RockSomething is to cover as many types of rock and metal as possible, although it has been commented that the site holds preference to hard rock and heavy metal outfits. RockSomething also provides coverage of unsigned bands - which includes a Band of the Month spot.

The majority of the website's content is written by Adam Harrold although several other contributors do provide reviews each month. The website's design was by British web designer Jack Hartley.
