Rochester International Film Festival

The Rochester International Film Festival is a well-respected short film festival held each year in Rochester, NY. Established in 1959, it is the world's oldest festival of its kind.

The event - which features narrative films, documentary films, animation films, etc - attracts filmmakers from all over the world. The screenings takes place at the famous Dryden Theatre which is part of the George Eastman House, the world's most foremost museum for photography and film.

Based on audience surveys, the most popular films shown at the festival end up in its permanent traveling collection called The Best of the Fest. The Dryden Theatre holds a Best of the Fest screening each winter.

The festival is presented by Movies on a Shoestring, Inc. - an independent non-profit organization. Fractions of the underwriting for The Best of the Fest comes from the New York State Council on the Arts. Additionally, the Rochester International Film Festival is part of the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester.
