[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia

Hello Robojames, welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alphax τεχ 15:40, 25 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Chase, Richard Brian

An article being vanity does not make it a candidate for speedy deletion. I suggest listing Chase, Richard Brian on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion instead. -- Cyrius| 16:27, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

  • Will do. Thanks Cyrius. Robojames 17:32, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism research

Thanks for the round up. It's going to take awhile for me to check all that. I'll get to you later. Mgm|(talk) 20:33, May 30, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Please do not cut and paste move

as you just did to move the content of General Motors Electro-Motive Division to Electro-Motive Diesels. It loses article history which is essential to keep. Besides, I am not sure there is consensus for such a move. Some have suggested that the new company should have its own, separate article, leaving General Motors Electro-Motive Division to cover the historical aspects. Or maybe it should exist at EMD? —Morven 19:59, May 31, 2005 (UTC)

  • I didn't think it was a big deal. This page seems pretty dead, it needs work

[edit] RE: Fatsak

He's a real person, whose exploits are both funny and surrealistic. Honestly, the guy can write and tell a story and is worthy of inclusion.

[edit] Image:Cdn_nickel.jpg

No problem wtih a replacement, I just cropped that one from Montrealais' image to illustrate Beaver in a hurry one day. Glad to see a better image. Radagast 15:41, Jun 17, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] British Museum

I realise that there's nothing more likely to polarise opinion and ignite a flame war than the Elgin Marbles and sympathise with anyone who tries write about them without bias, but I feel that some of your deletions in the volatile 'Criticisms' section may have detracted from the article a little. Your edit has made the Elgin Marbles and Benin Bronzes out to be two objects, but they're two groups of sculptures. By removing the statement 'the expertise and desire to preserve the items are now more widespread' the argument given by the article for their return seems less qualified.

Also, what is your objection to the sentence 'The debate over the legitimacy of the British Museum's claims over many of its artifacts continues, with the Museum claiming an inalienable right to hold them under British law, and critics accusing it of theft and inconsiderateness', not POV either way as far as I can tell? – Ham 20:23, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Thanks for your latest edit, bringing those arguments back but rephrasing them. That section's getting along nicely now. – Ham 15:43, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimedia Commons

Hi James. You nominated Image:UnknownDevice.jpg for deletion, saying it is "useless". You might like to check out the Wikimedia Commons, a database of free images. Images uploaded there can be used on any language Wikipedia. And photos are useful there even if they aren't used in Wikipedia articles. I've moved your picture to Commons:Image:Pot gripper.jpg, and added it to Commons:Category:Kitchen utensils. dbenbenn | talk 30 June 2005 14:52 (UTC)

[edit] Qatar

Thanks for your answer at WP:RD about Qatar. I am grateful. PedanticallySpeaking July 8, 2005 20:47 (UTC)

[edit] Canadian coin images

How did you take such nice photos? I tried taking a photo of a 2004 dime. They are now incorporated into the Dime (Canadian coin) page, since they are an improvement over the older version. However, I had trouble getting a close enough photo while still keeping everything in focus, not too dark, not too much glare. As you can see, my dime photo isn't really a success, especially the obverse. Do you have any tricks? thirty-seven 11:02, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Katie Holmes

Greetings! You have edited the Katie Holmes page in the past. I've completely reworked the article and have posted it on WP:PR in the hopes of advancing it to WP:FAC. I would be grateful for your comments at Wikipedia:Peer review/Katie Holmes. PedanticallySpeaking 18:54, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wolf Template

Hmm we have wp attack... but I like the idea of a sort of wolf template for people who bite newbies. I read about your idea in your post on don't bite the newbies {{nobite}}
