[edit] Hello

I hope that got rid of all the personal information. Let me know if there are any other problems. Welcome to Wikipedia. Joyous! | Talk 04:20, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

To leave a message on someone's talk page, click the little "plus sign" at the top of the page. This opens up a new section on the page. Type a message title in the little box, and the message in the large box. To sign it with your username and the date, type four tildes, like this: ~~~~ . Feel free to test it out on my talk page. You can get there by clicking the word "talk" in my signature. Joyous! | Talk 04:33, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

I forgot to mention: you can't possibly mess anything up so badly that it can't be fixed. I promise. Joyous! | Talk 04:47, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

I am leaving you a message, I can't sign it because I don't know which key on the keyboard makes the tides.--Robert551 04:51, 2 July 2006 (UTC) Oh, wait now I see it comes from the fonts below.

  • The tilde key is on your keyboard, probably at the top left. You'll have to press the Shift key to get it, or you can use the one from the fonts. Joyous! | Talk 04:53, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

    • And even more....If you want to leave someone (like Will) a message, it's usually best to do it on HIS talk page, rather than this one, which is yours. If you leave a message here for someone, they may not notice it. If you leave it on his talk page at User talk:Will Beback, he'll get that little orange "new messages" flag that you've been seeing when I leave you a note. Since it looks like you're responding to a note that he left you on the discussion page for Nueva Germania, then another good place to leave the message would be at Talk:Nueva Germania. Joyous! | Talk 05:28, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] orange flag?

I think I do see some kind of message, but I was able to figure out how it works. The message only said, Last chance, and I do not understand what that means. I did post the text on his talk page, if I am going to post it on the Nueva Germania Page. I will have to rewrite it to make it more general.

[edit] Message

Hi Roger - I got your message. No one here is going to defend Woodard's reliablity. He's now been blocked indefinitely, though that won't stop him from trying to sneek back. As for Mengele, it sound's like you've done more research on this than I have. I won't put it back in unless I can find a reliable source. Cheers, -Will Beback 16:56, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Belli

I don't understand your concern with the Belli/Woodard recording. If you think it is inappropriate then delete it, making sure to give yuor reason in the edit summary or on the talk page. -Will Beback 00:39, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

I don't have a reason, I just think there is no proof, I am not going to delete it, because I am worried about what happened in the past.Robert551 01:01, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

You mean no proof that the voice belongs to Belli? Absent any indication to the contrary, it seems reasonable to assume that it is his. I'd be more concerned with the fact that it may not be sufficiently important to merit mention in Belli's bio. -Will Beback 01:46, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

My question was did the event really happen? It could have been his voice, but stolen, or used incorrectly. I think if the event really happened it should stay, it is significant enough to be mentioned, as long as it not fraudulent, I think every piece of information is valuable. Robert551 03:02, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Your question resembles that of looking at a photograph and asking, "but did these two people ever actually stand besides each other?" Yes, the photo could be faked, but unless that's the assertion then we must presume that the named figures came together for the event. In this matter, it is entirely possible that the audio material is not "faked", but that a subsequent music track was added to a previously-recorded reading, perhaps without the reader's knowledge. That's actually a popular practice amongst "spoken word" DJs, one which gave William Burroughs a second, virtually posthumous, career. I haven't bothered to listen to the Bellie recording - have you? Does it sound like the reader was present for the musical performance? -Will Beback 08:11, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

I had not listened to it, but David Woodard has a long history of inventing fake events, and saying that famous people had attended them who did not. For example there is a book store in which in claimed to have an event in which he said, the Mayor of San Francisco, and some other famous people were there, and he posted that on his website, but it was not true. I know the owner, and no one famous went, on that day. It would be ok, to have the reference if Melvin Belli was really part of the concert, and if it really happened, but if it was a faked event, it should not be there. I have no way to check it out. But, the sound recording and the photo both come from David Woodard’s personal websites. If I could find a real news source such as the San Francisco Chronicle then it may be consider true. So, I check online at the San Francisco Chronicle and there were many articles about Belli’s death around that time, but not one article about a concert. David Woodard also claimed that he is playing a concert at Disneyland, on his website. That is just another example of the grandiose claims.Robert551 14:41, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
