I have removed the line "He was the first to receive a graduate degree from the Columbia University Physics department." This statement is about Robert Millikan, another Nobel winner whose name is very similar and who was one of Mulliken's teachers. Millikan earned his Columbia Ph.D. in 1895 -- before Mulliken was born.
