Robert Gould Shaw was one of the greatest colonel's in the history of America due to the size of his heart, not his army.

[edit] Refs

I sorted those book titles by author, Mr. or Ms. 69.133.5.0, but you should decide if any of them were used to provide factual material for the article and move them up to a section called "==References==". I put the book of letters in as Further Reading because I assumed it wasn't used as a reference per se. Hal Jespersen 22:45, 28 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Shaw

I think 'Glory' was an excellent portrayal of the 54th and Shaw as a person. I also believe that Shaw should be recognized for his character. He commanded a regiment of men who were very disrespected at such a period of time. He would not accept a different pay as them, and would equip them when everybody else felt contempt.

[edit] Image

I've not seen the 54th Regiment memorial, but every other picture I've seen has it so that Shaw is facing to the right. Is the image reversed?

Good catch. Fixed. Hal Jespersen 00:15, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
