I think there might be two Rob Thomases here. One from "Matchbox 20", and the other one a writer who was a member of a more obscure band "Hey Zeus". Can anyone confirm this?

Well, i know everything in the article can be attributed to the MB20 Rob except the thing about the UPN show. That I don't know. Is that what you mean? Everyking 15:02, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Yep. I recently read an interview with the UPN Thomas, which I added to the article. I don't follow Veronica Mars, but I have serious doubts that they are the same person.
I think they're two different people. I looked it up in TV Tome and it lists them as two different people. Issa2 06:57, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Matchbox Twenty split

I removed this because it doesn't cite any sources and Rob Thomas has repeatly said Matchbox Twenty hasn't split up. One of the members left (Adam Gaynor) the band in Jan 05.

Rob is currently solo, and the band has officially split as of November 05.

[edit] Requested move

I've requested this article be moved to Rob Thomas to remove the redirect page there currently. I'm sure that 999 out of 1000 people searching for the Rob Thomas article are looking for the singer, not the screenwriter from the 90s. Anyway, we'll see what happens. Harro5 07:53, July 12, 2005 (UTC)

  • Support. I'm not sure the percentage is quite that high, but I do believe it's plenty high enuf to get the musician primary disambiguation. Niteowlneils 22:28, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
  • Oppose. – AxSkov (T) 07:48, 14 July 2005 (UTC)
  • Oppose. - I would hardly consider him "a screenwriter from the 90s" since he is currently the exec producer of Veronica Mars. Daydream believer2 11:05, July 14, 2005 (UTC)

It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it be moved. violet/riga (t) 19:48, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Alleged affair with Tom Cruise?

Should it be included or not?

  • Gossip is gossip and has no place on a NPOV encyclopedia. Michigan user 16:09, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
  • I agree with Michigan user; this allegation should be removed from the article. Rajiv Varma 01:29, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
  • disagree; shows rob's sense of humour, etc.
  • Pointless having gossip on what's meant to be a musicians article from a NPOV -- Arnzy | Talk 06:24, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
  • it is npov. its a moment when thomas received mainstream press attention.

It should be included. I mean there were rumors he was gay!

[edit] Solo Career

Updated with reference to the 2005 solo tour, and to reference his new single. Michigan user 16:09, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

  • I know RT, is now solo, but whats the best way to put this on the main page? As i understand MB20, is still active, even with RT doing solo work for the past year and half. --Amckern 04:23, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] influences

in the VH1 Story Tellers about Matchbox Twenty, Rob says his biggest influences are Tom Petty or Willie Nelson.

[edit] New trivia section

I don't think that things mentioned like height, weight, and his favorite authors belong in an introduction section... There are more important things about him that should stay there, but alot of it should be moved into a new "trivia" section... Thoughts? --Jpagel 15:57, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
