Ensign Robin Lefler is a character on the show Star Trek: The Next Generation. She was played by Ashley Judd.

Lefler is the child of two Starfleet specialists, and they travelled a lot when she was a child. During her assignment on the USS Enterprise-D, Lefler worked in engineering under Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge. She became close friends with Ensign Wesley Crusher. With her help, he was able to thwart an alien plot to make the crew of the Enterprise-D suspectible to mind control. This happened in the episode The Game. Her first and only other appearance was in the episode Darmok, where she helps Geordi and Miles O'Brien modify the transporters in an attempt to beam Jean-Luc Picard off of an alien planet through a dampening field.

Lefler has created her own set of 102 sayings she calls "Robin's Laws", which she uses on various occasions. Wesley Crusher added a 103rd law to the list. [1]

  • Law     1: "You can only count on yourself."
  • Law   17: "When all else fails, do it yourself."
  • Law   36: "You gotta go with what works."
  • Law   46: "Life isn't always fair."
  • Law   91: "Always watch your back."
  • Law 103: "A couple of light years can't keep good friends apart."

Lefler's Starfleet career continues in Peter David's Star Trek: New Frontier books. In the books, she has been promoted to lieutenant and serves on the USS Excalibur as engineer and liaison to the Thallonian ambassador Si Cwan.
