Robert T. Altman (retired) (1940) is an American jurist. He attended the University of Califorinia, Los Angeles, graduating in 1961 , he then studied law at Harvard, receiving a J.D. in 1964. Upon receiving his law degree and becoming a member of the California State Bar Association he practiced law in Los Angeles with the firm of Loeb and Loeb, 1964 – 1969. He then became a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney, prosecuting cases from 1969 to 1980, this was followed by over twenty years on the bench for the Los Angeles Superior Court from 1980 to 2000.
