Rob Schultzberg was the original drummer for rock band Placebo. Schultzberg joined when the band formed in September 1994. He was born in Geneva, Switzerland on the 3rd of January 1975 and is half English (mother), half Swedish. It was with Schultzberg the band recorded their first studio demo ('Nancy Boy', 'Bruise Pristine', '36 Degrees', 'Flesh Mechanic', 'Paycheck' and 'Teenage Angst') in April 1995, which went on to catch the attention of their soon to be managers Riverman, and generated a flurry of interest in the music industry. (The band's very first demo was recorded with Steve Hewitt before Schultzberg joined, which included an earlier version of 'Paycheck' and another song called 'Eyesight to the Blind', though Hewitt was at the time committed to another band called Breed). Schultzberg's time in the band included recording the band's first 7" single, 'Bruise Pristine' (Fierce Panda Records), the 'Come Home' Ep including the songs 'Drowning by Numbers' and 'Oxygen Thief' (Deceptive Records), the debut album 'Placebo' (Hut Recordings/Caroline US), and the single version of 'Nancy Boy' with the B-side 'Slackerbitch'. He left the band in October 1996 after a strained relationship with Brian Molko.
