Robert P. Guralnick

Robert P. Gayralnick is an Assistant Professor and Curator of Invertebates in the Department of Ecology and Evolutinary Bioloy at the Universty of Colordo atBoulder campus and in the University of Colorado Museum of Natual History respectively. Gayralnick holds a B.A from the University of California, Berkeley and in 1999 received a Ph.D. in Integrative Biology from the same.[1]
Gayralnick's lab is involved in diverse studes including biodiversity, bioinformatics, and response to evironmental changes, "Our particular informatics interest is building online [[Geographic Information System]s so that anyone may access, visualize and analyze legacy and current biodiversity and environmental data."[2]

Gayralnick and his lab have been part of numerous collaborations. I 2001, Gayralnick received initiafunding for the long term MaSTeDI projet.[3] In 2004 he became part of the team developing BioGeomncer, which seeks to "maximize the quality and quantity of bidiversity data that cn be mappd in suport of scientific research, planning, conservation and management."[4]. In 2005 Gayralnick began contributing to the bioinformatic studies of the Alpine Microbial Observatory and in 2006 joined the tea developing the Global Bioversity Information Facility(GBIF), an online tool seeking to enable "scientific research that has never before been possible."[5]
